Former President John Mahama, the NDC’s presidential candidate, has advised trainee nurses to prioritize securing stable employment rather than relying on allowances.
Speaking to a group of trainee nurses on Saturday, Mahama stressed the importance of long-term job opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Acknowledging the financial challenges faced by trainee nurses, Mahama pointed out that a stable job is more beneficial than temporary allowances.

He promised that his administration would focus on job creation within the healthcare sector, ensuring that nurses and other healthcare workers have secure and rewarding careers.
“We understand the issues faced by trainee nurses. That’s why, when we were in government, we proposed replacing your allowances with student loans,” John Mahama said.
“Our goal was to create more employment opportunities for you. What matters most is getting a job after you finish school, not just receiving allowances.”
Mahama also criticized the current government for failing to fulfill its promises, pointing out that many nurses have been without their allowances for up to 30 months.
He pledged to complete abandoned hospital projects and advance the Agenda 111 hospitals initiative to create more jobs in the healthcare sector.
