Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has come for Nigerian singer 2Baba after he took to social media to announce his separation from his wife, Annie Idibia.
On Sunday, January 26, 2025, 2Baba took to Instagram and revealed that his 13-year marriage to Annie was officially over and that they were in the process of filing for divorce.
Of course, the internet was set ablaze, with fans, celebrities, and critics alike having a field day with the news. While some applauded his “honesty,” others, including Iyabo Ojo, weren’t exactly thrilled with how he handled it.
Iyabo, took to social media to express her disappointment. Annie, she pointed out, is currently having a rough time on Netflix’s Young, Famous and African reality show, so why throw more fuel on the fire by announcing the separation in public? Not cool, 2Baba.
In her now-viral post, Iyabo Ojo made it clear: “Separation or divorce might be inevitable, but abandoning loved ones when they’re already going through a rough time is NOT okay.”
She went on to blast the singer for being unempathetic, saying it was a low blow to put Annie in the spotlight when she’s already dealing with so much.
“I adore you both, but the timing was off. Adding fuel to the fire burning the mother of your kids, who’s already vulnerable, is just so unempathetic. I’m disappointed.”
Iyabo Ojo sent a powerful message to Annie, wishing her strength and reminding her that no matter how bad it gets, this storm will eventually pass. “Annie, this too shall pass. Stay strong,” she wrote.
“A heartfelt reminder to couples: when love fades, prioritize your children’s well-being. As parents, sacrifices are essential. Never abandon loved ones in their darkest moments, even if separation or divorce is inevitable. Let’s emphasize empathy and our children’s mental health. Sensitive issues shouldn’t be publicly aired; social media sometimes disregards the well-being of those involved.
