Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, asked voters to “vote for John Dramani Mahama” of NDC.
Wontumi was on Kessben TV to rally support for the NPP’s upcoming campaign. The party is aiming for a historic 85% of the votes in the December 7 election, with Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as their main candidates.
The goal was to convince the people of the Ashanti Region to vote massively for the NPP and ensure their success.

However, in a slip of the tongue, Wontumi said, “We are pleading with you all to vote for John Dramani…”
This unintended endorsement of John Mahama has become a hot topic of discussion, overshadowing the rest of the interview.
Many viewers were surprised by the error, especially since Wontumi had been criticizing Mahama as an “enemy of the Ashanti Region” earlier in the interview.
This mistake comes on the heels of a similar blunder by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo earlier this year.
During the launch of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), the president mistakenly referred to John Dramani Mahama instead of his vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
