Akrobeto Proudly Shows Off His New Kantanka Car, Reveals Its Price Tag (Video)

Ghanaian actor and television host, Akrobeto, has officially joined the cool club with a brand-new Kantanka car, and he’s not shy about letting everyone know!

In a video shared on TikTok by a Kantanka representative, Akrobeto revealed that his shiny new ride cost him a cool GH¢500,000. Yes, you read that right—half a million Ghana cedis!

In the video, Akrobeto couldn’t contain his excitement as he highlighted some of the impressive benefits of buying a locally-made vehicle like the Kantanka.

Among the perks: no import duties and support with licensing directly from the manufacturer. Sounds like a win-win for anyone looking to drive a homegrown car!

Some social media users couldn’t help but raise their eyebrows at the hefty price tag. “GH¢500,000 for a local car? Are you serious?” one commenter exclaimed.

“How is this supposed to be affordable for the average person in Ghana?” But others weren’t having it, defending the price as fair for a brand-new car made right here in Ghana.

This isn’t the first time Kantanka’s pricing has sparked a debate. In past interviews, Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr, CEO of Kantanka Automobile, has explained that comparing the price of new Kantanka vehicles to used imported ones doesn’t quite add up.

He also mentioned that many critics don’t even own cars themselves and expect to buy them for as little as GH¢2,000 or GH¢5,000.

To address affordability concerns, the CEO shared that Kantanka now offers more budget-friendly options, with smaller cars starting at GH¢45,000.

These models are targeted at ride-hailing services and taxis—so if you’re looking to run a taxi service or join Uber, there’s an option for you.

Back to TikTok, though—let’s take a look at some of the reactions from social media users:

Quabis545 asked the burning question: “I love the cars but how do you still peg the price as against the dollar when it’s a made-in-Ghana car? I don’t understand, just explain to me.”

Benjamin was all about the value: “Wow, beautiful, almost £32k. Very affordable. A brand-new car costs more than £55k in Germany.”

Kay Kay took a moment to school the critics: “You people have to know the difference between a foreign used car and a brand new or tear-rubber car… most cars in Ghana here are used cars, not brand new. Kantanka cars are brand new, not used.”

Zack was still recovering from the sticker shock: “500,000 like how? 😳😳 It can buy plenty of good foreign cars.”
