Ghana’s Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah has died at the age of 45.
The Ejisu constituency MP passed away in the early hours of Thursday, March 7, following a brief illness.
He was on the floor of Parliament earlier this week and was scheduled to contribute to the debate on the Budget on Thursday and Friday.
He, however, visited his constituency, Ejisu in the Ashanti Region for the Independence anniversary.
His health condition deteriorated Graphic Online understands. An ambulance was mobilised to transport him to Accra.
While on the way on Thursday [March 7, 2024], his condition became very critical and the ambulance diverted to the Suhum Government Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His remains have since been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

There are suggestions that his death may be linked to food poisoning, but the exact cause of his death has not been officially confirmed.
Who was John Kumah?
John Kumah was a Ghanaian politician, businessman, preacher, and a lawyer.
He served as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) until elected as the Member of parliament for the Ejisu constituency in the 2020 Ghanaian general election on the ticket New Patriotic Party (NPP).
John was born on 4 August 1978. He hailed from Ejisu Odaho, a farming community in the Ejisu municipality in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. John Kumah attended Opoku Ware School (secondary education) in Kumasi.
He continued to the University of Ghana (Legon) in 1997 and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Philosophy. In the year 2009, he was awarded an MBA (Finance) from GIMPA.
He also had a Degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Ghana and a Professional Law Degree (BL) from the Ghana School of Law. He also had his Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Business Research from the Nobel International Business School in 2019.
Personal life
John Kumah was married to Lilian Kumah who is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Disciple of Christ Ministries Worldwide. They had six biological children and many other foster children.
