Nellie Tembe’s death is news that touched many South Africans and spoke to many about the mental illness and importance of mental health.
However, before the tragedy, a lot of people saw Nellie as a beautiful happy girl and that she and AKA seemed to be really in love. Their love started long ago and the two got Mzansi hooked on their relationship.
The couple was known for sharing cute pictures and TikTok videos and when AKA shared the cute snaps of him and Nellie it was a norm, no one had expected things to unfold the way they did.

Anele “Nellie” Tembe’s death came after she allegedly jumped from the 10th floor of the upmarket Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town early hours of Sunday morning. She was confirmed dead at the scene after paramedics tried to resuscitate her.
The two love birds, have been together for some time and engaged for two weeks. Nellie was the first person, AKA has dated in a long time who isn’t a celebrity, well since 2008.

Their trip to the mother city was to celebrate a friend’s birthday and for AKA to perform at a few night clubs on Saturday evening.

AKA shared on his Instagram, pictures and videos of him and his fiancé, the couple seemed to be having a time of their life as they were enjoying their day in the city.
He first shared a video of them where they were in a photoshoot, wearing matching outfits. In the second video, AKA was at V&A Waterfront where the video showed him entering a MaXhosa Africa shop.

In a third video, AKA and his fiancé with friends, were all having lunch, having a great time and they ordered oysters. In another video also shared by AKA, he says: “We’re offering Forbes tours ain’t we baby?” and his beautiful fiancé, Nellie responded with a happy voice saying: “Of course”.

In another video that was shared, AKA was performing and Nellie joined him on stage. AKA also shared a few videos of his fans at the event. In other videos that made rounds in the socials, the couple was dancing together with no suspicions that Nellie will jump off of a building the next morning.

However, following the ordeal, the family of Nellie Tembe and AKA’s family came together and shared a joint statement that said:
“We are still in shock and are dealing with our emotions, as she was an exceptional and gifted young woman, with so much life ahead of her. She had a sweet nature about her and was always nurturing to those around her. Her fiancé, Kiernan Forbes, is currently inconsolable and is surrounded by family and closest friends. At this hour of our grief, we humbly request that our families be given privacy and time to heal”.
