“Baako na owu y3 no”: NAPO faces backlash for disrespecting late Atta Mills (Video)

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO and the NPP’s 2024 Running Mate, has faced significant criticism for his recent comments about the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

During a recent campaign rally, NAPO made a statement that has upset many. While speaking in Twi, he listed former Ghanaian presidents and referred to President Atta Mills as “the dead one.”

He said: “Dr. Hilla Liman has done his part, Dr. Rawlings has done his part, John Agyekum Kufuor has also done his part, the other one that is dead, Dr. Atta Mills, also came to do small.”

The clip of this statement quickly spread on social media, drawing widespread condemnation.

Users on X (formerly Twitter) have criticized NAPO for his choice of words, describing them as deeply disrespectful.

One user remarked, “Calling the late President Mills ‘the dead one’ is highly disrespectful. He will have to apologize for this.”

Another user added, “This is how NAPO referred to the late Prof. Mills. If you still think NAPO should be our Vice President over Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang after these insults, then you need to rethink.”

This incident comes after NAPO made headlines for comparing President Akufo-Addo’s achievements to those of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. During his introduction as the running mate for NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NAPO claimed:

“Since independence from 1957 till now, no president has done more for Ghana than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I say from 1957 till today, you can bring up Kwame Nkrumah… no president has helped Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo.”

These recent comments have only added to the criticism of NAPO, raising questions about his suitability for the Vice Presidency and highlighting ongoing concerns about respect and conduct in Ghanaian politics.
