Nigerian singer and actress Tiwa Savage has revealed her admiration for her junior colleague Ayra Starr during a recent media chat.
During an interview with Kiss FM in the United Kingdom, Tiwa recounted how many chastised her for her daring breakout and fashion sense in the Nigerian music industry.
She noted that this was one of the reasons she was obsessed with Mavin star Ayra Starr. She said the young singer reminded her so much of her early days.

Tiwa added that the young talent, known for her showy outfits, has defied Nigerians’ criticism of her provocative fashion by continuing to excel in the global music arena.
“I love Ayra [Starr]. I’m obsessed with her. She’s amazing and genuine, too. It makes me emotional because when I started, I got criticised a lot for dressing too sexxy and my lyrics being too risky.
“So, seeing someone, Ayra now…If I see her wearing the short skirts, as they say, I’m like, ‘Make it shorter.’ And she looks amazing, she’s extremely talented. Yeah, she’s a star.”

Meanwhile Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems pulled up to The Tonight Show on Monday (May 20), where she performed a two-track medley as the musical guest for the night.
Wearing a glossy vanilla-white bodysuit hugging her curves, Tems shined bright in front of the amber sunset backdrop alongside her live band and supporting vocalists in black sports jackets and matching suit pants.
The 28-year-old performed the luscious “Born in the Wild,” which is the as yet unreleased title track to her heavily anticipated debut album slated to arrive on June 7 via Since ’93/RCA Records.
