“Beloved and award-winning actor Ron Cephas Jones has passed away at the age of 66 due to a long-standing pulmonary issue,” a rep for Jones told People magazine in a statement confirming his death.

Born on January 8, 1957, Ron Cephas Jones was an American actor from Paterson, New Jersey.
A graduate of Ramapo College, Ron began his acting career after relocating from Los Angeles to New York City.
Following supporting roles in He Got Game, Paid In Full, and The Blacklist, he went on to achieve even greater success.
He starred in Mr. Robot, Marvel’s Luke Cage, and The Get Down.
Ron also appeared in This Is Us, Truth Be Told, Lisey’s Story, and Law & Order: Organized Crime.
“It took a little while but it paid off in the end,” he said of his This Is Us prominence.
He told Today: “This Is Us was the show, after 50-something years of being on the boards and doing a little spot television that lasted for six seasons and it gave me a career in Los Angeles.
“It gave me a chance to show people my level of work.
“So, I’m getting work because of my work as opposed to trying to toil.
“I’ve done that all those years in New York. It’s the idea that my work after all is perseverance.”

“Ron’s inner-beauty and soul was evident to the huge audience from his multi-Emmy award winning performance on This is Us. He is survived by his daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones,” the statement concluded.
Who is Ron Cephas daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones?
Jasmine Cephas Jones is the daughter of actor Ron Cephas Jones and British-born jazz singer Kim Lesley.
She was born on July 21, 1989 in London, England but grew up in Midwood, Brooklyn.
She attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, and Berklee College of Music, and graduated from Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in 2011.
Similar to her late father, Jasmine Cephas Jones is also an actor.
Jones has made small appearances in multiple independent films, including Titus (2013) and Fairfield (2014). She has also appeared in episodes of Blue Bloods, Unforgettable, and Mrs. Fletcher.
In 2015, she originated the roles of Maria Reynolds and Peggy Schuyler in the original Off-Broadway production of Hamilton. When the show moved to Broadway, she continued in those roles, and remained with that production until December 8, 2016.
