Tens of thousands of people in Africa die each year because of fake and counterfeit medication. According to E.U.-funded report, The drugs are mainly made in China but also in India, Paraguay, Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Almost half the fake and low-quality medicines reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) between 2013 and 2017 were found to be in sub-Saharan Africa, said the report, also backed by Interpol and the Institute for Security Studies.

Ojeh Cynthia Nnenna, a final year Accounting student of the Enugu State University of science and Technology, has died after allegedly taking a fake malaria medicine.
Nnenna, who was set to complete her degree next month died Friday night just a few hours of chatting with her friends and detailing the discomfort she was going through after taking malaria drugs.
She shared a photo of fake malaria drugs in her last conversation on Whatsapp which was prescribed to her by a pharmacist
