‘Take Your Cursed Self Away’ – Manhyia Turns Down Afia Pokua’s Apology (Video)

Manhyia Palace has firmly rejected Afia Pokua’s apology after hours of pleading, following her controversial comments about the Asantehene.

The popular media figure, known for her work on Kasapa FM and Agoo TV, found herself at the center of a firestorm after making critical remarks during a live show.

The incident began when Afia appeared on Onua TV’s Bribi Gye Gye Wo, hosted by Mona Gucci.

During the discussion, she voiced her frustrations over the Asantehene’s handling of the galamsey issue, which has plagued the region.

She also critiqued his silence on ongoing conflicts involving the Ashantis and other tribes, particularly the Bonos, which many found disrespectful.

Her comments quickly sparked outrage among the Asante community and beyond, as many deemed them an affront to the dignity of the Asantehene.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Afia Pokua attempted to make amends by personally visiting Manhyia Palace to offer her apologies.

Accompanied by Mona Gucci, she spent hours pleading for forgiveness, even going so far as to kneel in prostration.

Despite her visible remorse and the support of a few elders who believed her apology was sincere, the representative of Otumfuo remained steadfast in their decision to reject her.

In a heated response, the representative expressed their discontent: “Who do you think you are to disrespect the Otumfuo?” they asked pointedly. They further emphasized that some actions carry consequences that must be faced, stating, “If you think you’ve grown wings, don’t aim them at Kumasi.”

The representative’s words were clear and unyielding: “Take your cursed self and your troubles with you. Whatever comes your way in the future, deal with it on your own. Do not ever return here.” This strong rejection serves as a potent reminder of the respect and traditions that govern interactions with the Asantehene.
