At The Oval in 2009, Stokes made his List A debut for Durham, and with just his third professional delivery, he was able to dismiss the seasoned batsman Mark Ramprakash.
In 2009, he participated in two youth tests against Bangladesh U19, where he scored fifty and picked up a few wickets.

Ben Stokes missed close on being just the third batsman in history to strike six sixes in a first-class over after hitting five straight sixes in that over but failing to make clean contact with the last delivery and only getting a one-bounce four.
