WASSCE ranking 2019: Full list and statistics 

For a long time, examinations have been a quantifiable measure to the academic excellence of students. In Ghana WAEC has aided in this quest. For those who sat for the examinations in 2018, WAEC has released WASSCE ranking 2019.

According to Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, head of public affairs, signed statement, “The Council will dispatch the results to the schools and candidates are advised to contact their heads of school for their results.” However you still can be able to find the 2019 WASSCE rankings below.

The results for WASSCE are out. Like with any examinations, students and parents alike are eager to know about their performance and the statistics of the exams in general.

To help curb the unrest in the country the examination council has simplified things by conforming to the advancement in technology and posing the results online. Nonetheless caution is advised as this news might also with its drawbacks.

According to the council, students and parents are asked to follow up with their respective schools and avoid the false promises of imposters who claim to have powers to alter the results. So how doe one check their results online?


Checking WASSCE results Ghana online

Checking for WASSCE results online is so simple.

    1. Go to the WAEC Ghana May/June portal through http://ghana.WAECdirect.org
    2. Once you are here, enter your examination Index number
    3. Choose the examination type which for your case is WASSCE
    4. Select the year of examination, for example 2018
    5. Key in the serial number on the other side of your WASSCE scratch card
    6. Key in the 12 number personal identification number on the scratch card
    7. Confirm all your details and ensure that they are correct
    8. Complete the process by clicking on the
    9. submit button and await a popup menu with your details

If the WASCE 2018 statistics are anything to go by then it is safe to assume that the Ghanaian education sector is headed to the right direction. According to the statistics the exams saw and increase of candidates by 9.6 % seat for the exams. In 20187 there was a candidate population of 289,207 whereas in 2019 the number rose to 316,999.

Out of the 316,999 candidates there was 158,449 females making a percentage of (49.98%) and 158,550 (50.02 %). As if this is not all, there was an improvement in the number of absentee candidates. Only 1,378 candidates were reported absent during this period making a population of 0.43% out of the 946 registered schools.

Other than the candidature statistics, the performance of the students was also ranked on different subjects. Below are some of the performance of the four main subjects:

Mathematics (Core): 120,519 (38.33%) obtained A1-C6; 94,607 (30.09%) obtained D7-E8 while 99,275 (31.58%) had F9;

English Language 147,232 {46.79%) obtained A1-C6; 99,402 (31.60%) obtained D7-E8 while 68,002 (21.61%) had F9;

Social Studies: 230,141 (73.27%) obtained A1-C6; 46,464 (14.79%) obtained D7-E8 whilst 37,494 (11.94%) had F9;

Integrated Science: 158,691 (50.52%) obtained A1-C6; 109,069 (34.72%) obtained D7-E8 whilst 46,367 (14.76%) had F9;
