Your head needs help if you post your food and clothes on social media – Pastor Mensa Otabil

The founder and general overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil has labelled people who share photos of their food and new clothes on social media as ‘mentally ill’.

Pastor Otabil Preaching on the theme ‘Hunger for Excellence’ last Sunday at the ICGC Christ Temple in Accra, noted that trivial things like food and clothes don’t need to be published on social media as if they’re achievements and people who wallow in the act have ‘low capacity’.

Some of you eat food and post it on Facebook…to show your good living,

You think you’ve achieved something…because your ancestors were very hungry people.…and you think it’s nice? You are showing that your capacity is low.”

He said that people who show off their lifestyle on social media are ‘so impressed with themselves’, adding that they ‘don’t know how far they need to go’ in life.

“[When] you buy a new shoe, you put it [sic] on Facebook. [When] you buy a new dress, you WhatsApp everybody to look at you.”

Otabil admonished his congregation to yearn for excellence rather than looking at some basic things as an achievement.

He also touched on those who join airplane and try to show off that they’re also traveling the world.
