Divine Ikubor, better known by his stage name Rema, is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and performer. He was born on May 1, 2000. With the premiere of the song “Iron Man,” he became famous. He entered into a recording contract with Mavin Records’ subsidiary Jonzing World in 2019.

Early Life and Childhood
Rema’s real name is Divine Ikubor. He was born on May 1, 2000, in Benin City, Edo State, in the South-Southern part of Nigeria. In July 2022, he turned 22. He was raised in a Christian home.
He is the last of his parents Justice Ikubor (the father) and Mrs. Ikubor’s four children, two of which are boys and two of whom are girls.

His mother is a businesswoman who prefers to avoid the media, while his Rema father was a prominent PDP member in Edo State and the former general manager of the state-owned Ethiope Publishing Company. His father sadly passed away in 2008. Later, in 2015, his elder brother too passed away.
The Ikubor family was experiencing difficulties following the deaths of his father and older brother. He had to man up and take care of his mother and sisters because He claimed he was the lone man in the family. He had to travel to Ghana, where he worked odd jobs and on a beach to support his family .

Career
Rema began making music in secondary school, but he first gained attention in 2018 when she performed a freestyle video to the song “Gucci Gang” by D’Prince.
After watching the video, D’Prince moved to sign Remα to his record label, Jonzing World, a division of Don Jazzy’s Marvin Records.
He has excelled both inside and outside of Nigeria during the course of his career, which he has been able to construct for himself. It was a significant thing when Iron Man by Rema was included to former US President Barrack Obama’s summer playlist in 2019.

Personal Life
Rema is a fan of the soccer team Manchester United F.C. He also announced on Twitter that he had been admitted to the University of Lagos, allowing him to realize his mother’s lifelong desire of earning a degree.
Rema made accusations against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a tweet on September 28, 2020, regarding the passing of his father, Justice Ikubor, a former party chieftain.
Awards
Rema won Next Rated on October 19, 2019, and was nominated for Viewer’s Choice at the 13th annual Headies. He won the Soundcity MVP Award for best new artist on January 12, 2020.
Rema was nominated for the Best Viewers’ Choice: International Act at the 2020 BET Awards on June 15, 2020. He shared a nomination for the honors with Burna Boy and Wizkid, the only other Nigerian artists nominated for the 2020 awards. 15th place was achieved by Rema Track Woman on the global digital song sales chart.
