In 1998, Leung made his debut as the villainous henchman Sang opposite Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in Brett Ratner’s Rush Hour.

Leung later acted in Red Dragon, The Family Man, and X-Men: The Last Stand, all directed by Brett Ratner.

In 2000, Edward Norton cast him in Keeping the Faith. In Corpus Christi, a passion play by Terrence McNally, he played James the Less and God in 1998.

Leung made his Broadway debut in 2002 in the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. He also appeared alongside Hayden Panettiere in Shanghai Kiss in 2007.

He also guest-starred in the final season of The Sopranos. From 2007, he portrayed Miles Straume in 45 episodes of Lost. From 2014, he played Topher Zia in the series The Night Shift.

In 2022, he appeared as Eric Tao, Harper’s boss, in HBO’s Industry. In 2024, he played Commander Zhao in the Netflix series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
