American politician and businessman, William Asa Hutchinson II was born on December 3rd, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas.
He acquired his J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1975 after completing his accounting bachelor’s degree at Bob Jones University in South Carolina in 1972. He conducted more than 100 jury trials over his 21 years of legal practice in Fort Smith.
Hutchinson was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas by President Ronald Reagan in 1982. Hutchinson was the youngest U.S. Attorney in the country at the age of 31.

Hutchinson, a lawyer, businessman, and politician from the United States, presided as Arkansas’ 46th governor from 2015 until 2023.
He was a Republican and served as the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, which includes Fort Smith, from 1982 to 1985, as well as the 3rd congressional district of Arkansas from 1997 to 2001, as well as the first undersecretary for border and transportation security at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from 2003 to 2005.
Hutchinson, a Republican, was the outgoing state attorney general Michael Beebe’s opponent in the 2006 race for governor of Arkansas.
Hutchinson was once more the Republican candidate for governor in 2014, this time beating Mike Ross, the Democratic candidate.
In 2018, he received over two-thirds of the vote, and was re-elected. He was unable to run for reelection in 2022 due to term restrictions, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders took his place.
