Ghanaian business mogul, Ibrahim Mahama, made a significant contribution to the funeral of Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan, the late mother of renowned gospel musician Empress Gifty Adorye.
The funeral, held on January 18, 2025, in Tema, saw an outpouring of love and support from family, friends, and dignitaries who gathered to honor the life of the late Evangelist, affectionately known as Agaga.
Ibrahim Mahama, the founder of Engineers and Planners and a brother of former President John Dramani Mahama, was one of the key figures present at the funeral.
The businessman made a generous donation of GH¢200,000, which was announced by the event’s MC. This substantial contribution was a show of support for Empress Gifty and her family during this difficult time, and the announcement was met with applause and appreciation from the attendees.
The funeral ceremony was not just a time for mourning, but also a celebration of Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan’s remarkable life and legacy. Many prominent figures from various sectors were in attendance to pay their respects, including political leaders, religious figures, and well-known personalities from the gospel music fraternity.
Among the notable attendees were Movement for Change leader Alan Kyerematen, Assemblies of God Church General Superintendent Rev. Stephen Wengam, and businessman Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, all of whom expressed their condolences and shared in the sorrow of the family.
Empress Gifty herself delivered a poignant tribute to her late mother in the form of a heartfelt song. Her emotions were palpable as she sang, paying an emotional and personal tribute to the woman who had played a vital role in her life.
This was followed by an emotional moment as the casket was carried away, with a tearful Empress Gifty walking behind it, showing her deep love and respect for her late mother.
The ceremony also featured powerful performances from some of Ghana’s top gospel musicians, including Diana Hamilton, ACP Kofi Sarpong, Broda Sammy, and Diana Asamoah. Highlife artist Kofi Kinaata also performed.
Ibrahim Mahama’s generous donation, along with the outpouring of support from the wider community, highlighted the strong bonds of unity and compassion that characterize Ghanaian culture.
