Justin Timberlake Biography
American musician and actor, Justin Timberlake was born on January 31, 1981, in Memphis, Tennessee in the United States of America.
At the age of 11, Timberlake went on the television program Star Search and sang country songs as “Justin Randall” while performing. He also sang religious music.
By that point, he had started listening to rhythm and blues artists from the 1960s and 1970s, including Al Green, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. He also shared studio records by the Eagles and Bob Seger with his father.
He starred with future lover and singer Britney Spears, future tourmate Christina Aguilera, future bandmate JC Chasez, future actor Ryan Gosling, and future actress Keri Russell on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club in 1993 and 1994.
Chasez was then signed by Timberlake to Chris Kirkpatrick’s all-male singing group, sponsored by boy band manager Lou Pearlman, and later renamed NSYNC.
Justin Timberlake career
Before becoming well-known in the late 1990s as the main vocalist for the boy band NSYNC, Timberlake had made appearances on TV shows as a young child.
With the release of four commercially successful studio albums, the group went on to sell 70 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. The popular songs “Cry Me a River” and “Rock Your Body” from Timberlake’s first solo album, Justified (2002), were his first solo hits.
FutureSex/LoveSounds (2006), his highly praised second album, arrived at the top of the US Billboard 200 and produced the number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in a row: “SexyBack” (with Timbaland), “My Love” (containing T.I.), and “What Goes Around… Comes Around”.
His first two albums, which helped him establish himself as a successful solo artist globally, both sold more than 10 million copies and were certified 3 platinum by the RIAA.
A number of successful songs that Timberlake co-wrote with other musicians include The Lonely Island’s viral hit “Dick in a Box” in 2006, Timbaland’s “Give It to Me” in 2007, Madonna’s “4 Minutes,” 50 Cent’s “Ayo Technology,” and T.I.’s “Dead and Gone” in the years that followed.
Timberlake put his musical career on hiatus from 2008 to 2012 to concentrate on acting, playing the lead in the movies The Love Guru (2008), The Social Network (2010), Bad Teacher (2011), Friends with Benefits (2011), and In Time (2011).
With his third and fourth albums, The 20/20 Experience and The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2, he resumed his recording career in 2013.
Both albums peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 and produced the top-ten Hot 100 singles “Suit & Tie” (featuring Jay-Z), “Mirrors,” and “Not a Bad Thing.” The former album ended up being the best-selling album of the year.
In the Trolls franchise from DreamWorks Animation (2016–2023), Timberlake voiced the character Branch; the soundtrack for the first movie featured his sixth US number-one hit, “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”; this song garnered him an Academy Award nomination.
Man of the Woods (2018), his fifth studio album, became his fourth number-one record in the US. With “Filthy” and “Say Something” (with Chris Stapleton), two top 10 singles, it finished the year as the sixth best-selling album of the year.
