Ex-NFL star Sergio Brown who played for the Patriots and Colts is missing after his mother was found dead by homicide in an Illinois creek.
Maywood Police said they were informed by family members Saturday that they could not find or make contact with 73-year-old Myrtle Brown or her son, 35-year-old Sergio Brown.
Who was Sergio Brown?
Born on May 22, 1988, in Oak Park, Illinois, Sergio Brown is a former football star turned marketing professional.
After studying and playing football for the University of Notre Dame, he signed up for the 2010 NFL draft.
Despite going undrafted, he was able to secure a contract with the New England Patriots, where he played for two years.
Sergio played for four more teams throughout his football career: Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills.
After retiring from football, he went on to get his MBA at the University of Miami.
He graduated in 2017 and worked in several companies, including Google and Fox Sports.
Per his LinkedIn page, he owns a creative agency called TasteMakers, which focuses on online digital ads, integrated marketing, and space activations.
What happened to Sergio Brown’s mother Myrtle Simmons Brown?
On Saturday, the Maywood Police Department was informed by family members they couldn’t find or make contact with Myrtle Brown, 73, and her son Sergio Brown, 35.
Following the report, a missing persons search was launched. Myrtle Brown’s body was found in a creek near her home on Saturday. She was the victim of an assault and her death was ruled a homicide, officials ruled.
Now, police are on a desperate hunt for the NFL star who played for seven seasons and details on what happened to him and his mother.
‘I’m not waiting another hour. Please share! If you see them or one of them please let me know or the Maywood Police Office know,’ Nick Brown, son of Myrtle and Brother of Sergio, said in a social-media post.
Where is Sergio Brown now?
Sergio Brown’s whereabouts have yet to be determined.
The police are still searching for the former athlete.
