‘As a club and as a small community, we are absolutely devastated by the sudden and tragic passing of our life member, team mate, club legend and friend,’ the club said.

‘Boony was a one-of-a-kind larrikin who filled the room with smiles and laughter.

‘Our lives are better for knowing him and sharing so many wonderful memories with such a treasured friend.’

The club said they would be supporting Bec and her children every step of the way and urged those who needed help to reach out.

Organiser Nic Bellinger said the footballer had always been the life of the party and the first to put a positive spin on things.

‘With a long, tough road ahead for Bec and the kids, this is a way people near and far can provide some support to allow these beautiful people the time to grieve and love each other as they try to deal and navigate their way through the tragic loss of a very loving husband and father,’ he wrote.
