S. Iswaran Net Worth – Born on June 14, 1962, in the Colony of Singapore, S. Iswaran is a Singaporean politician.
Before his political journey started, he worked for various organizations in both the public and private sectors, including Temasek Holdings
At the time of this writing, Iswaran has been serving as Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations since 2018 and also as Minister for Transport since 2021
As a member of the People’s Action Party, Iswaran made his political debut in the 1997 general election where he won with 70.14% of the vote.
Following his victory in the 1997 general election, he became the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Pasir Panjang ward.
Later, Iswaran switched to representing the West Coast ward of West Coast GRC from the 2001 general election onwards.
He has since been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the West Coast division of West Coast GRC since 2001.
From September 2004 to April 2006, he was Deputy Speaker of Parliament and was appointed Minister of State at the Ministry of Trade and Industry on 1 July 2006.
After the 2006 general election, he was promoted to Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Trade and Industry on 1 April 2008.
On 1 April 2009, Iswaran was given an additional appointment as Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Education.
Following the 2011 general election, he was promoted to full Minister in the Cabinet and appointed Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office.
Iswaran was also appointed the Second Minister for Home Affairs, as well as Second Minister for Trade and Industry.
After the 2015 general election, he dropped his three positions to occupy the office of Minister for Trade and Industry on 1 October 2015.
In May 2018, he became Minister for Communications and Information and still worked in the Ministry of Trade and Industry as Minister In-Charge of Trade Relations.
After the 2020 general election, Iswaran continued as Minister of the Ministry of Communications and Information (Singapore).
In May 2021, after a Cabinet reshuffle, he became Minister for Transport while continuing his appointment as Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations.
In July 2023, S. Iswaran hit the headlines following reports that he has been invited to assist in an investigation by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB)
On Wednesday, 12th July 2023, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) reported that Iswaran is assisting them with an investigation.
With this development, Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong has instructed Iswaran to take a leave of absence until the completion of the investigation.
