Who was Laura Rojas?
Laura Rojas had a passion for broadcasting from a young age. When she returned to Amarillo after nine years away, she was determined to pursue her dreams and launch a career in broadcast journalism. In no time, Rozas secured a job as the news anchor for KVDA Channel 60 Telemundo in San Antonio, Texas, and began hosting the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. broadcasts.

Later on, she concentrated on international entertainment in the US and Mexico with “Tu Onda Interncional”. Before joining the news crew as a reporter at KEYU (Amarillo’s Univision affiliate), Laura turned to Facebook to upload videos of herself doing remote interviews that allowed her work to reach millions of people across various countries. She is now proud to deliver stories that affect both the English and Spanish communities alike.

Laura facilitates an expansive reach for her educational show “Inside Northside Video Magazine Show”. It airs five times a week to the communities of San Antonio and those around the city. Her skill and academic qualifications from Sam Houston State university (Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Police Science, Minor in Spanish) and Amarillo College (Associate’s degree in criminal justice) are highly impressive.
Moreover, Laura genuinely cares about the wellbeing of citizens, having taken it upon herself to contribute financially and volunteer as part of Facebook’s movement “Reading Revitalization” in order to help ensure that every individual has access to crucial literacy skills.

Oh no, her and her family were always so kind when they would come in to shop for makeup. I was a little awestruck by her beauty, but her warmth, compassion and authenticity made her an absolute pleasure to be around.
I’m so sad to hear this. She was such an amazing and beautiful soul. She was kind and had a smile that lit up rooms. I pray for her family. I treasure the time I was able to work along side of this amazing human. I loved Laura! She’s was such a trailblazer in our community! She will be missed! 🙏🏽
