Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of musical great Elvis Presley and his wife Priscilla Presley, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54 on Thursday. It is believed her death was due to a heart attack.

Her passing is heartbreaking and sadly follows in the footsteps of Elvis’ own passing from mortality too soon. Out of respect for their daughter and her memory, Lisa’s parents have requested media outlets to grant them privacy during this crucial period.
“Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie,” said a statement from the family provided to CNN.

Days before her hospitalization, Lisa Marie and Priscilla Presley attended the Golden Globe Awards in support of the Baz Luhrmann film Elvis, starring actor Austin Butler, who picked up an award for his portrayal of the King.
The tributes were paid to Lisa Marie by her colleagues and several other Hollywood stars, including Rita Wilson and John Travolta, as well as fashion designer Donatella Versace.
