An Accra Circuit Court has remanded dancehall musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known professionally as Shatta Wale into police custody for one week.
Charles Nii Armah Mensah, faces charges of publication of false news and causing fear and panic. He was represented by two lawyers in court after pleading not guilty to the charges

Two of his alleged accomplices have also been charged with abetment of crime.
If found guilty, Shatta Wale could face a three-year jail term, cautioned or fined. He is to re-appear in court on October 28.
At the same court hearing, the first since they were arraigned, three of his accomplices, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Idris Yusif and Eric Venator were also remanded.
This was after the accused persons had already spent two nights in police cells.

Facing media men and sympathizers gathered at the court, Shatta Wale appealed that the “prophesies must stop”, as he was being paraded after the ruling.
The shooting, which has now been clarified as being a hoax, was perpetrated in relation to a prophecy by one Bishop Stephen Kwesi Appiah, alias Jesus Ahoufe of New Life Kingdom Chapel
Jesus Ahuofe prophesied that the Ayoo hitmaker will be a victim of a robbery-turned-murder, similar to Lucky Dube who was shot and killed in a car robbery on October 18.
