NAPO slams Ablakwa; accuses him of producing pro-LGBTQ curriculum during NDC’s gov’t (Video)

Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as NAPO, has launched a fierce attack on North Tongu Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Speaking at a recent campaign event ahead of the 2024 general elections, NAPO accused Ablakwa of promoting a pro-LGBTQ+ agenda during his time as Deputy Minister of Education in the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh alleged that Ablakwa was a driving force behind the inclusion of Comprehensive Sexuality Education in the educational curriculum, which purportedly covered topics related to LGBTQ+ issues.

“I came to see that they did a curriculum and wanted children to learn about LGBTQ. The person behind it is Okudzeto Ablakwa. He took some Imams and men of God and went around the country advocating for children to be taught how a man kisses a man and how a woman can sleep with a woman,” Dr. Opoku Prempeh stated.

In his remarks, NAPO also suggested that Ablakwa’s involvement in this initiative was a factor that contributed to the electoral defeat of former President John Dramani Mahama in 2016.

He stated, “That’s why John Dramani Mahama is the only president who only served for one term, although other presidents served two terms.”

The allegations made by Dr. Opoku Prempeh have sparked considerable debate among supporters and critics alike, especially as the 2024 elections draw nearer.

Many view his remarks as an attempt to galvanize NPP supporters by tapping into prevailing sentiments about LGBTQ+ rights in Ghana, a topic that remains contentious.
