Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy has thrown his weight behind the ongoing protests aimed at stopping illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, in Accra.
The three-day demonstrations, titled ‘Stop Galamsey Now’ and ‘Free The Citizens,’ also call for the release of Democracy Hub protesters who were arrested during a previous rally.
In a passionate post on the social media platform X, Stonebwoy called on the nation’s leaders to take serious action against the growing problem of galamsey.

He emphasized the need for both current and future leaders to develop clear plans to address the environmental damage caused by illegal mining and to show a genuine commitment to resolving the issue.
He wrote, “As we touch the streets to advocate for the better… May our blood, sweat, and tears not remain in vain.” Stonebwoy implored the government to validate the struggles of Ghanaians by providing detailed plans to tackle pressing issues like galamsey.
Additionally, he highlighted the urgent need for improvements to the Korle-Bu mortuary, which has been in a deplorable state, especially after a recent documentary by TV3 shed light on its challenges. “Not forgetting the dilapidated state of the Korle-Bu mortuary, amongst many others…” he added.
