Ghanaian gospel musician and preacher Sonnie Badu has opened up about a tragic domestic accident he experienced in December 2023, which resulted in the loss of two toes on his right foot.
Just days before his highly anticipated Rhythm of Africa Concert on December 9, Badu revealed that he had suffered a serious accident that required surgeries on his leg.
Despite not being fully healed, Badu still performed at the concert, which led to some social media speculation that his injury might be a publicity stunt. Badu firmly denied these claims, stating that the injury was genuine and serious.

In a recent interview on Onua Showtime, Badu shared more details about the accident that changed his life.
He explained that he slipped on a staircase while cleaning and, in a horrific twist, his leg went through a sharp metal rail, injuring his toes severely.
“I was bleeding everywhere,” he recalled. After the accident, he drove himself to the hospital and even walked into the emergency room.
When doctors examined him, they were shocked to discover the extent of his injuries. “They asked where my toes were,” Badu said.

Confused, he responded, “Which toes?” He then asked his team members to look for them, and they found the severed toes on the floor. They placed them in an ice box and brought them to the hospital, but the doctors ultimately refused to reattach them.
“I went through depression for six months. I’m left with only three toes,” he admitted during the interview.
Host Nana Ama McBrown confirmed the details of the incident after Badu shared images on the show.
