Onua TV presenter Mona Gucci, known as Abigail Semaha, and Agoo TV journalist Afia Pokua have been summoned to Manhyia Palace for allegedly disrespecting the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The situation escalated when Afia Pokua made comments criticizing the Asantehene for his silence amid conflicts involving his subjects and other tribes, including the Bonos.
On Mona Gucci’s show, “Bribi Gye Gye Wo,” Pokua expressed her frustration over what she viewed as Ashantis asserting superiority over other tribes while the Asantehene did not take action.

These statements triggered a strong backlash from the Ashanti community, prompting protests and public outcry from sub-chiefs and queen mothers.
In the wake of the uproar, both women issued apologies on their social media platforms and even took to live television to express their regret.
However, the backlash persisted, prompting them to honor an invitation to the palace for a more formal apology.
Arriving at Manhyia Palace, they were accompanied by Prophet Kumchacha and a delegation from Onua TV.

The proceedings were moderated by the Otumfuo’s Okyeame (Linguist), who is tasked with facilitating communication in such important gatherings.
