Police Offer GH¢50,000 bounty for man wanted over threats to harm public officials

Ghana Police Service is on the hunt for a man known as “Kanawu” after a video of his alarming threats went viral.

The video, which has quickly become a sensation on social media, features Kanawu making bold and disturbing threats against high-profile public officials.

In the video, Kanawu doesn’t mince words. He goes after some of the country’s top figures, including Interior Minister Henry Quartey, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akuffo Dampare, and Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensah.

Kanawu accuses them of recruiting individuals into the police force under false pretenses to skew the elections.

Adding fuel to the fire, Kanawu declared 2024 as “All Die be Die” — a provocative statement that only escalates the situation. He has dared the authorities to arrest him, making it clear that he’s not backing down from his threats.

In response to this serious situation, the Ghana Police Service has launched an extensive manhunt for Kanawu.

To encourage public assistance in locating him, they have put up a reward of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢50,000.00). This substantial amount is being offered for credible information that leads to Kanawu’s arrest.

The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and help them ensure the safety and security of all involved.
