Ghanaian actor Clement Brobbey, better known as Mr. Beautiful, has explained why his colleague, Kofi Adu—famously known as Agya Koo—shifted his political support from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Mr. Beautiful, Agya Koo was a dedicated supporter of the NDC and enjoyed a close relationship with former First Lady Lordina Mahama.
However, a specific incident involving the police reportedly sparked Agya Koo’s decision to change his political allegiance.

On the Urban Blend show aired on Accra-based 3FM, Mr. Beautiful detailed an event where Agya Koo was prevented by police from visiting Lordina Mahama at her residence. This denial reportedly infuriated Agya Koo and led him to shift his support to the NPP.
“Agya Koo had a strong connection with Lordina Mahama and even had her personal contact,” Mr. Beautiful explained.
“But when he was blocked by the police from seeing her, he felt very disrespected. This incident was a turning point for him, leading him to support the NPP.”
Mr. Beautiful also noted that other celebrities have switched their support from the NDC to the NPP since the latter took power.

Despite these shifts, Mr. Beautiful remains a loyal supporter of the NDC, especially backing the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, as the country approaches the general elections on December 7, 2024.
