Ghanaian socialite Naana Donkor has stirred up a storm in the Ashanti community following an interview with Dormaahene, Oseadeeyo Nana Agyemang Badu II.
The interview, which occurred while the Dormaahene was in New Jersey for a fundraiser to establish a dialysis center in Sunyani, has led to significant backlash and controversy.
During the interview, Naana Donkor praised the Dormaahene’s initiative but also made several comments that many in the Ashanti community found offensive.

The Dormaahene’s rivalry with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, and the wider Ashanti kingdom seems to have heightened the sensitivity around her remarks.
The video of the interview quickly gained traction on social media, and Naana Donkor faced a wave of criticism.
Many Ashantis took to social media to express their displeasure, leading to a significant online uproar. In response to the backlash, Naana Donkor turned to TikTok to address her critics.
During a live video, she labeled some of her detractors, particularly from the Ashanti community, as “poverty-stricken” and accused them of having too much time on their hands.
She defended her comments and insisted that the focus should be on the Dormaahene’s charitable efforts rather than on her.

“I will not be silent while you try to walk over me,” Naana Donkor declared in her live video. “I refuse to let anyone from the Ashanti community undermine the Dormaahene’s project or the goal of setting up a dialysis center. This initiative is about helping people in need, especially those suffering from kidney problems. As someone living in the US, I have access to good healthcare, but this is about improving conditions back home in Ghana. It’s disappointing to see people trying to attack me instead of supporting this important cause.”
What the Dormaahene said about his feud with Otumfuo in the Naana Donkor interview:
When asked about his feud with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and its impact on the community, the Dormaahene urged the youth to stay out of the conflict.
He emphasised that the disagreement is a matter between adults and advised respect for Otumfuo due to his seniority.
“My priority is the development of my town. I won’t engage in petty disputes. I encourage everyone to focus on the positive developments we’re working towards rather than getting caught up in personal conflicts,” he stated.
“I will indulge those on social media, the youth, not to involve themselves in what’s happening. The issue is between grownups,” he stated.
