A video currently trending on social media shows a dramatic rescue of a man involved in illegal mining, commonly known as ‘galamsey,’ who got trapped in a mud-filled pit.
The footage, which has captivated and shocked viewers, shows the miner’s desperate struggle as he endured significant pain and distress while stuck in the mud.
The incident occurred when the miner’s lower body got stuck in a pit that had filled with mud. The pit was a result of the extensive excavation work typical of illegal mining operations. Unable to free himself, the trapped miner was immobilized and in severe discomfort.

His colleagues, a group of about six miners, immediately sprang into action, trying to pull him out manually. Despite their best efforts, the mud’s firm grip proved too strong for their combined strength.
Realizing that manual efforts alone wouldn’t be enough, the team decided to call in an excavator to assist in the rescue.
With the help of this heavy-duty machinery, the trapped miner was eventually pulled out of the pit.
Although he looked visibly shaken and in pain, the rescue operation managed to save him from what could have been a very dangerous situation.
