Benjamin Madugu Avornyotse, Deputy Director for Press and Media Relations for the NDC National Youth, has responded to allegations made by YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon.
The National Democratic Congress’s town hall at Bukom Arena drew politicians, media figures like Benard Avle and Umaru Sanda, and social media influencers such as Kalyjay and SDK, among others.
After the event, Twitter exploded with reactions, and popular YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon joined the discussion.

Kwadwo Sheldon took to social media with claims that the NDC invited him to their event but he declined. He explained that the invitation came with a condition: they would provide predetermined questions for him to ask Flagbearer John Mahama, which he found unacceptable.
Sheldon expressed his reluctance to participate in what he perceived as a scripted “questions and answers” session.
He said, “The funny thing is, they invited me to the Bukom event on the condition that they would give me the questions to ask JDM. I was told I’d either ask those questions or not participate, so I chose to play FIFA instead.”
The controversy sparked a debate online, with many accusing Sheldon of lying due to his NPP affiliation.
Some questioned why John Mahama would impose such conditions when he has taken questions from prominent journalists like Bernard Avle, Umaru Sanda, and Sampson Ayenini.
In response, Avornyotse took to Facebook to clear the air. He labeled Sheldon a “blatant liar” and shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation with Sheldon’s team.
Avornyotse clarified that this was the only communication between them and noted that there were no phone calls or other forms of contact. He mentioned that Sheldon’s team did not answer his calls, which led to the decision not to invite Sheldon.
