Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown is set to mark her 47th birthday in a profoundly impactful way by funding the release of 47 prisoners.
This remarkable act of philanthropy, scheduled for August 15, 2024, was announced by Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, the Chief Executive Officer of the Crime Check Foundation (CCF).
The initiative reflects McBrown’s ongoing commitment to prison reform and support for the incarcerated.

McBrown’s pledge to aid the release of prisoners is a continuation of her earlier commitment made public on her cooking show, McBrown’s Kitchen.
In February 2024, McBrown expressed a strong desire to help alleviate prison overcrowding in Ghana and subsequently donated GH¢10,000 to the CCF’s petty offenders project.
This project aims to provide relief for those imprisoned for minor offenses and to improve conditions within the country’s correctional facilities.
In a recent viral video captured at Akuse Prison, Mr. Kwarteng appealed to Ghanaians to offer prayers for McBrown, emphasizing the severe challenges faced by inmates.

“Nana Ama McBrown will turn 47 on August 15, and she will be funding the release of 47 prison inmates. I know whoever is watching this will be impressed and will say a prayer for her,” Mr. Kwarteng stated.
The video, which has garnered significant attention, features Mr. Kwarteng alongside inmates at Akuse Prison, one of the facilities poised to benefit from McBrown’s generosity.
Mr. Kwarteng also highlighted the importance of empathy for those in prison. “The Bible says we should draw near to the prisoners, be a source of encouragement to them, and share the good news, because being in prison is not a joke,” he remarked.
