Nigerian music star Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy, has officially announced the breakup of PSquare, the iconic music duo he co-founded with his twin brother, Peter Okoye.
This marks the second dissolution of the group, which originally split in 2016 before reuniting in 2021.
In a recent interview with Lagos City FM, Rudeboy addressed the reasons behind the latest split, shedding light on the ongoing tensions between them.

He revealed that Peter’s decision to leave the group was influenced by deep-seated insecurities and external pressures.
According to Rudeboy, Peter struggled with an inferiority complex regarding their music, feeling overshadowed by the perception that he was merely the dancer while Rudeboy was the singer.
Rudeboy detailed, “I was being accused of saying that he [Peter] was the dancer and I’m the singer. I didn’t realize how much this was affecting him until it became a major issue. We had a discussion where we agreed not to let such things get to us, and that he should be proud of his role.”
Despite efforts to resolve their issues and avoid repeating past mistakes, Rudeboy revealed that Peter made a sudden and definitive decision to quit the group.

“The new PSquare was meant to be a fresh start,” Rudeboy said. “I wanted to ensure that past issues were not repeated. But Peter made it clear that he was done with the group. He even refused to make the decision public. I was left to deal with the fallout and potential backlash if I continued solo, which is why I’m speaking out now.”
