In 2017 she got engaged to her Inbetweeners co-star Joe Thomas who played Simon Cooper.

The pair also both starred in the 2018 summer film The Festival.

Kara Tointon was previously engaged to Marius Jensen, a chiropractor. They met in 2016 and got engaged in November 2018.

However, they ended their engagement around October 2022. As of February 2024, Kara Tointon is not married.
