Brenda Snipes, the former supervisor of elections for Broward County for approximately 15 years, passed away on Thursday at the age of 80.
Melanie Snipes Thomas, of Atlanta, one of her two daughters, said Snipes died of complications with a short illness.
She was a “loving soul and energetic. She was an amazing public servant for 55 years,” Melanie Snipes Thomas, said. “Her philosophy was pouring into other people to make their lives better.”

Snipes was born Brenda Calhoun Snipes in Talladega, Alabama, and majored in modern foreign languages at Talladega College.
She moved to Florida in 1964 with her husband, Walter Snipes Jr.
Brenda Snipes successfully completed her studies at Florida Atlantic University, earning a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction for adults.
