He was born in India on 6 December 1994 and plays for the Indian cricket team as an international cricketer. He has participated in all of the Indian team’s competitions in all formats. Iyer became the first Indian player to accomplish this feat when he hit a century in his first test match and a half century in the second innings in a test match against New Zealand in November 2021.
Iyer is the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League and plays for Mumbai in the domestic cricket competition. During the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, he was a member of the India Under-19 cricket squad that competed.
Iyer was discovered by coach Pravin Amre at the age of 18 while he was competing at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana. Amre was his coach when he was just starting out as a cricket player. In his first test match, he scored a century, making him the 16th Indian player in history to do so.
Shreyas Iyer scored a total of 204 runs in the T20I bilateral series that India played against Sri Lanka in 2022, breaking the record that had been held by Virat Kohli for the most runs scored by an Indian batsman in a T20I bilateral series of three matches. His runs included three consecutive undefeated half centuries.
