Runrig lead vocalist Bruce Guthro has died at the age of 62, his heartbroken former bandmate has confirmed.
The late star was best known for his work as the lead singer in the Scottish rock band Runrig.

Bruce Guthro born August 31, 1961, was a Canadian singer-songwriter, from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
Guthro has recorded as a solo artist, and was lead vocalist for the Scottish celtic rock band Runrig from 1998, until the group retired in 2018.
Guthro has received several ECMAs (East Coast Music Awards), and hosted and conceptualized the Canadian TV show Songwriters Circle, on which guests included Jim Cuddy, Colin James, and Alan Doyle (of the Canadian band Great Big Sea).
Guthro is also the father of musicians Dylan Guthro and Jodi Guthro. He co-produced Dylan’s award-winning 2012 debut album All That’s True with Dave Gunning and co-wrotefive of the album’s songs.

“So, so sad to hear of the untimely death of my friend and former band mate Bruce Guthro. He was just the nicest person you could ever hope to meet and a joy to perform with. An exceptional singer, musician and song writer taken far too soon. We are going to miss him. RIP,”

Guthro passed away on Tuesday evening after a battle with cancer. He had just celebrated his 62nd birthday on Aug. 31.
He leaves behind his wife, Kim Anderson-Guthro, two children, Jodi and Dylan Guthro, as well as many family and friends.
