Le Van Thanh funeral – Le Van Thanh is a Vietnamese radio journalist and activist. He is a member of the Falun Gong religious movement.
Mr. Le Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, died at 20:20 on August 22 at his home in Lach Tray Street, Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong City.
According to the Central Committee for Health Care and Protection, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh died after a period of serious illness, and was wholeheartedly treated by the Party, State, professors and doctors, and his family wholeheartedly.
The ceremony of visiting, memorializing and burial of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh will be announced later.
Le Van Thanh Biography
Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh was born on October 20, 1962. His native land is Tan Lien Commune, Vinh Bao District, Hai Phong City.
He was 61 years old, Master of Economic Management, born in Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city. He was a member of the 12th and 13th Party Central Committee; Member of the 12th National Assembly.
Mr. Thanh used to hold the position of Director of Hai Phong Cement Company, then Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Hai Phong City.
At the 13th Party Congress in early 2021, he was re-elected a member of the Central Committee. More than three months later, he was approved by the National Assembly as Deputy Prime Minister.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Van was assigned to monitor the following fields: Industry, agriculture and rural development; trade – import and export; build; Transportation; natural resources and environment; national master planning, regional planning, provincial planning; energy assurance, economical and efficient use of energy.
He is also in charge of national key projects; capital construction investment projects as decentralized by law; economic zones, industrial parks, export processing zones; flood and storm prevention, search and rescue; strategy to respond to climate change.
Deputy Prime Minister monitors and directs the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Industry and Trade, Construction, Transport, Natural Resources and Environment.
The last activity of him was to attend the meeting of the State Steering Committee for important national works and projects, the key transport sector, at the Government headquarters on the afternoon of November 16, 2022. Since then, he has not appeared in public.
On November 23, 2022, Mr. Thanh was assigned to be the Head of the National Steering Committee of the Action Program “No more Hunger” in Vietnam, period 2016-2025. In January 2023, the areas in charge of Mr. Thanh were assigned by the Prime Minister to three other Deputy Prime Ministers during his absence.

The Deputy PM passed away in his house in Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong City, at 20:20 on August 22, the committee said in its announcement.
He died after a period of illness despite care and treatment efforts by experienced professors and doctors.
