Keir Mather (born 1997 or 1998) is a British Labour Party politician serving as Member of Parliament for Selby and Ainsty since the 2023 by-election. When elected, aged 25, Mather became the youngest serving MP, the Baby of the House.
While a student at the University of Oxford, he was an appointed officer at the Oxford Union debating society. Mather was also Co-Chair of the Oxford University Labour Club.
Mather worked as a public affairs adviser for the Confederation of British Industry for eighteen months before entering Parliament and was formerly a parliamentary researcher for Wes Streeting from 2019 to 2020
He became a new Labour MP, and he become the youngest Member of Parliament in the Commons after reversing a 20,000 majority in the North Yorkshire constituency of Selby and Ainsty.
Speaking after the results at Selby Leisure constituency, Keith told reporters:
“As a young person in politics, I really hope to be a representative for the power that young people have to make a difference.”

He has been criticized for comparing Labour’s new MP for Selby and Ainsty consistency to a character from The Inbetweeners in a jibe aimed at his age.
Keir Mather (25) became the new “Baby of the House” after reversing a 20,000 majority in a hammer blow for the Tories to mark a historic victory for Sir Keir Starmer’s party.
It was the largest Conservative majority revoked by the opposition party at a by-election, making Mr. Mather the youngest MP in the Commons.
