Renowned singer-songwriter Coco Lee has died by suicide, family members confirmed on Wednesday.
It was revealed lee was rushed to hospital at the weekend and was in a coma before she died on Wednesday.

Who was coco lee ?
Ferren “Coco” Lee, born January 17, 1975, was a Chinese-American singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actress.
The late star started out her career in Hong Kong, before expanding to Taiwan.
In 1998, she was hired to sing the song Reflection for the Disney adaptation of the Chinese folktale Mulan, which helped her reach international fame.
Coco, who dropped her latest single Tragic on February 14, went on to sell tens of millions of Chinese and English albums.
Her career also saw her take the Oscars in 2001, where she performed the song A Love Before Time from the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
The song was nominated for Best Original Song.
Coco Lee Death
On 2 July 2023, Lee attempted suicide and was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital in an unconscious state. She died at the hospital three days later, on 5 July 2023, at the age of 48.
Sister Nancy Lee posted the heartbreaking message on her Sina Weibo and also on Instagram. She revealed this year was “supposed to mark CoCo Lee’s 30th debut anniversary in the music industry”.
She wrote: “Throughout her 29-year career, she not only brought us endless joy and surprises with her powerful songs and dance performances, but also worked tirelessly to pave the way for Chinese artists in the international music scene.”
She added: “Although, CoCo sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly that demon inside of her took the better of her.
Nancy revealed that despite the hospital staff’s best efforts to “rescue and treat her from her coma” she died on July 5.
Coco leaves behind her husband, Bruce Rockowitz, and two adult stepchildren.

At the time of this report, the family was planning her final funeral arrangement and the details are yet to be finalized.
Her sister, Nancy, revealed that her funeral would be delayed to at least August, pending an autopsy to uncover the extent of her undisclosed battle with breast cancer.
