He developed a love for journalism at a younger age and has been consistent throughout his career rising through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after journalists.
Dan Walker earned a BA (Hons) degree in History in 1998 and an MA degree in Journalism Studies in 1999 at the University of Sheffield.

Walker kicked start his professional career with work experience from Sheffield’s Hallam FM after winning a competition for young sports commentators.
He then moved to a full-time career with a four-year stint as a sports presenter and commentator for Manchester’s Key 103.
During his stay at the station, he presented the regular midweek sports show, often broadcasting from UEFA Champions League matches, and also appeared as the resident sports correspondent for Mike Toolan’s breakfast show.
Walker moved into television with a six-month spell at Granada Television in Manchester, appearing as a commentator on the Football League Review show before joining BBC regional news program North West Tonight.
During this time with the TV station, he was nominated for a number of awards and won the Royal Television Society Sports Award in 2005 for Regional Sports Presenter of the Year.
Walker has since then worked with other stations. He was the host of Football Focus from 2009 to 2021, as well as BBC Breakfast from 2016 until May 2022.
In April 2022, he announced that he would be leaving the BBC for Channel 5, and in June of the same year, he made his Channel 5 news debut, reporting live from 10 Downing Street when Boris Johnson survived a no-confidence vote.
In February 2023, Dan Walker made headlines after he had an accident whiles cycling.
Walker was knocked off his bike by a moving car on Monday morning, February 20 leaving his face swollen but without any serious injuries.
It is not clear where Walker was struck by a car but he shared a series of images of his bloodied face while sitting in an ambulance, alongside a selfie with the NHS staff who were caring for him.
Walker tweeted: “Bit of an accident this morning. Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike. My face is a mess but I don’t think anything is broken.
“Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene. This is my smile. Thankful for our NHS.”
Hours later, Walker gave his fans an update saying the helmet he was wearing saved his life. He warned other bike users to “get one on your head”.
