American supermodel Kristen McMenamy took a tumble on the Valentino runway during their spring 2023 haute couture show in Paris earlier this week.
Dressed in all white, with a cape draped off a baseball cap, the veteran 58-year-old US model was helped to her feet by onlookers as the crowd applauded.

A clip of the fall has been widely shared online, with some fans criticising the Italian luxury fashion house for seemingly showing off heels that appeared to be the wrong size for models.

The brand’s apparently unwalkable shoes also made headlines last year after a number of models fell while walking its Spring/Summer 2023 runway show.
McMenamy – who caused gasps and screams across the Bridge Club venue when she tumbled twice in a row – cast her high heels to the side and continued on following her fall, though some pointed out that her ankle looked injured.

Praising her resilience, YouTube Head of Fashion & Beauty Derek Blasberg said in a video: ‘They don’t call her a supermodel for nothing! … Bravo.’
Social media users took to Twitter to question the brand’s decisions regarding heels in their shows, with one writing: ‘I don’t understand how literal VALENTINO still makes models walk in shoes that are too small???’
Another wrote: ‘In this day in age its just embarrassing for the designer. Nobody is going to wear those.’
