The owner of Despite Group of Companies, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite is one of the renowned business tycoons in Ghana.
Born Osei Kwame but for some unknown reasons, ‘Despite’ has become a name known for the business magnate over the years.
It has for sometime now been on the minds of many Ghanaians, why the name ‘Despite’ but the answer to that, has eventually been revealed.
The member of parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong who is a known friend of the business man has given an explanation to the name.
In explaining the name, Mr. Agyapong revealed that, Osei Kwame was born into a poor family. He did not get the previlege attend school and gain any kind of formal education.

However, despite his predicaments, he was very determined to make a difference in life and be referred to as one of the richest men in the country.
As said by the lawmaker,Osei Kwame’s slogan was ‘Despite the fact that I didn’t attend school, I will be rich in life’.
And as time goes on, the statement was shortened to just a word, ‘Despite’. It became part of his name and has stuck up to date.
