The President of the Republic of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo on the day before his birthday got tested with his wife First Lady Rebecca for the coronavirus(COVID-19) and their tests results are finally out.

Both have tested negative for the coronavirus. This information was channeled by the president’s personal physician, Dr. Patrina Takyi-Ankrah, who spoke at a press briefing organized by the Ministry of Information on Wednesday 1st April 2020.

She said the presidents’ household and other top government officials including the Minister of Health, have also taken the test and have all tested negative.

“On the day before the President’s birthday, we tested him and the First Lady and his daughters and all the staff of this household and I am happy to announce that all the tests came back negative,” Doctor Takyi stated.

It could be remembered, that there were some rumors fast spreading like wildfire that the president of Ghana had contracted the virus due to his numerous travel history outside the country amid the outbreak in Europe.

It is believed the rumors were reportedly spread by his political opponents to cause fear and panic in the country so it deemed it’s appropriate that he clears all doubts by voluntarily going for a test.
