AFCON 2019: Wakaso breaks down in tears after Ghana black stars exit

Black Stars midfielder Mubarak Wakaso could not hold back the tears following the team’s exit in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in the round 16.

It was all pain and anguish for Ghana as they crashed out of the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt following a penalty shootout defeat to Tunisia in the Round of 16 on Monday.

Following a 1-1 draw after extra-time, the game was forced into penalties, which ultimately ended 5-4 in favour of the Carthage Eagles after Caleb Ekuban missed his kick.

The 28-year-old was, however, named the Total Man of the Match following his explosive performance against Tunisia.

The midfielder, however, could not hold back his tears as he came to terms with Ghana’s latest exit from the tournament

“I thought this tournament was for us because we’ve put in a lot of hard work. Now we need to think about the future,”
he said after receiving the award.
