Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku has got social media buzzing with with the dress she wore to the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) welcome party on Wednesday.
The Minister who was responsible for welcoming guests from all over Africa to the AFRIMA has become the subject of social media commentary with sections of the general public expressing their varied opinions about her dress.
The classic black dress worn by the Minister has a see-through detailing which reveals the lower part of her legs and arms.

The Minister in an interview Friday on Hitz FM explained that she wore the dress to show her swag.
“I have some swag and I am permitted to rock once in awhile,” she said.
For critics who were disappointed in her for not wearing a dress made in Ghana to the event, Madam Afeku said even though it was not made from African fabric, it was designed and made in Ghana by a Ghanaian fashion designer.
Some netizens have taken issue with her choice of dressing while others have come to her defence, explaining that it was the right choice for the occasion.

Journalist Anny Osabutey in a post on Facebook said former American First lady Michelle Obama would have been praised for her humility if she had worn a similar attire while Kofi Effah quizzed whether people expected Madam Afeku to wear a Kaba and Slit to the event.
Another Facebook user, Whyalways Ekow noted that a google image search of Catherine Afeku shows that she wears indigenous Ghanaian dressed during public engagements.
