The Minister of Information, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has in an unexpected manner, called on Ghanaians to disregard comments passed by the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, on the Free SHS programme.
According to him, the minister’s opinion that not reflect the position of the government with regard to the policy.
Ofori Atta is reported to have called on the government to allow Ghanaians who can afford to pay their wards’ fees to be allowed to do so.

His comment was met with a myriad of reactions from a cross-section of Ghanaians who raised several concerns about it.
Reacting to the comment, the Information Minister stated that the Finance Minister “has no locus to talk about educational issues and his opinion on the matter is dead and must be ignored.”
Dr. Abdul-Hamid said a lot of research and consultation were undertaken on the viability and feasibility of the policy before it was implemented.
He added that the entire government machinery was behind the vision of the president to ensure that every child of school-going age gets educated.
